SUMMARY:Organ Lecture: How the Body Works When Playing the Piano\, Organ\, 
 or Harpsichord
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nThis lecture will focus on select muscular demands o
 f organ\, piano and harpsichord playing by referring to various parts of t
 he body and their roles in the following topics: (1) Balance\; sitting on 
 the bench\; (2) Leg bones\, muscles\, and pedal technique\; (3) Back muscl
 es and arm placement\; (4) The hands\, fingers\, and arm. Specific pieces 
 will be studied along with methods to test the strengths of certain muscle
  groups. Exercises and practice warm-ups will also be discussed.\n\nSponso
 red by the Paul B. Fritts Faculty Fellowship at the University of Washingt
 on and the Seattle Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. This event
