Organ Music in the Mall in Seattle

ago-3-rank-organI write you as dean of the chapter in our AGO district to let you know of an event in the Seattle area which will occur the weekend before Christmas.  We will be bringing the Seattle chapter’s portable three-rank tracker organ to three different shopping malls on December 16, 17, and 18, and we are asking organists in our area to come and play holiday music on the organ for the general public.  Attached is a photo of the organ, and attached also is an announcement of the event and details about it, including how to sign up.
Please feel free to make the members in your chapter aware of this opportunity.  We will need a total of about 20 organists, and I would love it if some organists come from all four of the chapters in our district.  It really is an interesting opportunity to bring the organ and organ music to the public.
Thank you for your consideration of this opportunity for your members. Please let me know of any questions.
Best regards!

Bring the Organ to the Public

Our chapter has once again been invited to bring our chapter’s pipe organ to the shopping mall at Christmastime and present holiday music to the public. In particular, we have received invitations to play on the following dates and locations:

Friday, December 16, 4-7 PM—Pacific Place Mall in downtown Seattle (600 Pine).

Saturday, December 17, 1-5 PM—Factoria MarketPlace Mall.

Sunday, December 18, 1-5 PM—Crossroads Mall, Bellevue.

You are invited to come and play on the chapter’s one manual with pedal (25 note) three rank (8’ Holz Gedeckt, 4’ Spire Flute, 2’ Principal) Marceau pipe organ. It is a great chance to play well-known holiday music, including Christmas carols and popular holiday tunes. If they wish, AGO members can also bring other instrumentalists/vocalists with them to perform together, and this is encouraged when it can be arranged. All sites have pianos available, and there is space for other instrumentalists/vocalists. Thus, there are a lot of possibilities here for “organ+” music.

Sign up by contacting Susanna Valleau at or 978 973-5009. Playing times are normally 30 minutes, but indicate if you want to play more or less. Team up with another chapter member if you like, and make this a fun holiday event! Also, please indicate if you have a mall preference or a time preference. If you would like to help facilitate this effort or have questions, contact Carl Dodrill at
