David Dahl and Tom Clark will lead a presentation on Georg Friedrich Kauffmann’s Harmonische Seelenlust, including historical context, exploration of the organs in the Merseburg Cathedral, and consideration of registrations that Kauffmann specified.
Paul Tegels and Dana Robinson will play musical examples representing the various forms Kauffmann used to set chorale preludes. Guest artist Shannon Spicciati will play oboe on two of the pieces Kauffmann wrote for trio with obligato.
A 30-minute period of open console time will be available for all AGO members after the presentation. If you have some Baroque music you’d like to try out, bring it along!
