The organ concert will include three centerpieces featuring northwest connections. Alma Oncley was the Professor of Organ at the University of Puget Sound. Oncley’s Passacaglia on “When Jesus Wept” was often included in concerts given by Ed Hansen, Oncley’s fellow organ faculty member at UPS and former Director of Music & Organist at Plymouth Church, Seattle. Aaron David Miller is an artist who has risen to national heights and beyond as a performer, composer, and improviser, who spent time growing up at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood. Rebecca Groom te Velde grew up in the Puget Sound area, earning her bachelor’s degree from Seattle Pacific University, studying organ and composition with her father, Lester H. Groom, who served on the faculty begining in 1969 and retiring as professor emeritus in 1992.
