Bach Cantata Workshop: On Monday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 310 North K Street, Tacoma, the Tacoma Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the PLU choral department will present Carlton Monroe in a workshop exploring the performance of Bach cantatas in the context of worship. Dr. Monroe is Director of Music at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Terrace Park (Cincinnati), Ohio where, in addition to leading an active music program for children and adults, he established and conducts the Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas, a professional ensemble of instrumentalists and vocalists who perform services, concerts and educational retreats centered on the music of J. S. Bach. Singers and instrumentalists from PLU will help illustrate his presentation.Bach Cantata Presentation: On Tuesday, April 26, at 8:00 p.m., in Lagerquist Hall at PLU several PLU choral ensembles will perform complete Bach cantatas under the direction of Carlton Monroe and Brian Galante. Join us in considering a 21st-century cultural context for Bach’s sublime choral works.

On Friday, April 15th at 8:00 pm, St. James Cathedral and the Seattle Chapter AGO will host Grammy Award-winning organist Nathan Laube in concert. Mr. Laube is quickly establishing himself as one of the finest young organists of this generation and has already performed across four continents at the great concert halls and cathedrals around the globe. He will be performing music of Bach, Howells, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, and Reubke in works written for the organ and some that have been transcribed for it.
