The parish of Saint John’s Episcopal church is over 100 years old. However the current sanctuary, completed in the late 1950’s had gone without a major capital campaign for improvements for over a quarter century. As part of the capital campaign, along with a new narthex, three improved bathrooms, lighting and other things, the magnificent rear “servanthood” window was to be “liberated” by the removal of the Moller Artiste pipe organ (with additions) that blocked it. What followed was an odyssey that culminated in the removal of all carpeting and the installation of a 1981 Rieger tracker that was built for one of the college campuses of New York state in Purchase. That instrument, installed and voiced by one Rieger employee named Martin Pasi, is part of an interesting tale, one to be shared by chapter member Dennis Northway.

A reception sponsored by Saint John’s Episcopal Church will follow the event.
