The Cosmopolitan Chameleon Pipe Organ is a three part, lecture-listen course that will explore the music and construction of the pipe organ throughout the Baroque, Romantic, and Contemporary eras. For each of these three time periods, this course will showcase both the identifying characteristics and the influences of organs in Western countries, including their construction and musical styles across borders.
Classes take place around the renowned Schneebeck Organ in Kilworth Memorial Chapel at the University of Puget Sound with faculty organist, Dr. Wyatt Smith, demonstrating notable musical excerpts.
This course is open to members of the public and the campus community.
No musical experience is required.
This is a non-credit, community course and is not part of a degree program.
