Bach Cantatas and Officer Elections

Dear Tacoma AGO Members and Dual Members:

Don’t miss our meeting Monday, April 25, 7:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church.
Election of officers: Please arrive a bit early so we can begin with the election promptly at 7:30 p.m. and move on to the evening’s program. The slate is listed below.
Bach Cantatas: Carlton Monroe will describe how J. S. Bach’s cantatas can be integrated into worship services. Singers and instrumentalists from PLU will help illustrate the lecture. Dr. Monroe, Director of Music at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Terrace Park, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. He is Director of the Bach Vespers at St. Thomas, a vespers series centered around Bach cantatas.
Christ Episcopal Church, 310 North K Street, Tacoma. Parking is available on the street, in the small lot behind the church off 4th Avenue, and in the lot next to the parish house off K Street.
Bach Cantata Concert: Tuesday, April 26, 8:00 p.m., Lagerquist Hall, PLU. The Men’s Chorus, Chamber Singers, and University Singers present a Spring Concert, featuring works by J.S. Bach. Richard Nance directs the Men’s Chorus; Brian Galante leads the Chamber Singers and University Singers. The Chamber Singers will be joined by guest conductor Carlton Monroe performing full versions of two of Bach’s cantatas discussed during the AGO workshop, and select movements from two other cantatas.
