Join organists Cheryl Drewes, Sheila Bristow, Emma Kelly, Dr. Michael Plagerman, and Dr. Wyatt Smith for a performance, recreating Mendelssohn’s all-Bach recital performed at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig in 1840. Often credited with reintroducing the music of Bach into regular performances in the first half of the nineteenth century, Mendelssohn often included various works by Bach in his organ recitals. In this program, we will hear works such as the great Passacaglia and Prelude & Fugue in a minor, along with smaller works like the beautiful setting of Schmücke dich from the Leipzig Chorales. This concert will feature the Fritts Organ at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Tacoma.
